Tamsin Lewis (Director, Renaissance Violin, Viols, Alto)

Tamsin studied violin at the Florence Conservatoire and read Classics and Italian at Oxford. As an early music consultant for film and television, her recent work includes projects with Lucy Worsley, Gareth Malone and Danny Dyer, and on historical dramas A Discovery of Witches, Becoming Elizabeth, and Draw on Sweet Night

Tamsin has written, arranged, directed and played music for a number of theatre productions at venues including Shakespeare's Globe, the Rose Theatre and Hampton Court, and has collaborated with theatre and dance historians and practitioners to reconstruct masques entertainments for Historic Royal Palaces and other heritage sites.

Tamsin is an associate lecturer in Renaissance music and art at the Courtauld Institute, and is a fellow of the Royal Historical Society and of the Society of Antiquaries. She has written a number of books and articles on early modern music and society many of which are published by Rondo Publishing. She is a member of the Lions part Theatre Company and appears in their Globe-based festivals as a violin-playing bear.
